For the Love of Animals Lottery

HOW OLD DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO ORDER A TICKET? 

Participants must be at least 18 years of age. Tickets cannot be ordered in the name of a minor. 

HOW MANY FOR THE LOVE OF ANIMALS LOTTERY TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE? 

A maximum of 19,091 lottery tickets are available. 

WHAT ARE THE TICKET PRICES FOR THE LOVE OF ANIMALS LOTTERY? 

Ticket price is $25 CAD each or 5 tickets for $100 CAD or 25 tickets for $250 CAD. The 25 tickets for $250 CAD package, is limited to 300 orders. The lottery system is set to discontinue selling this package once 300 orders have been processed.

WHAT ARE THE TICKET PRICES FOR THE BONUS 50/50 DRAW? 

Ticket price is 5 tickets for $10 CAD or 30 tickets for $20 CAD or 250 for $50 CAD or 500 tickets for $75. 

WHAT ARE GUIDELINES REGARDING NUMBER OF NAMES ON FOR THE LOVE OF ANIMALS LOTTERY TICKETS AND PAYMENT TERMS? 

All tickets, both individual or the five pack or the twenty-five pack, must contain the same name and information. Only one form of payment may be used per purchase. Ticket numbers will be issued in sequential order. 

CAN I GIFT MY TICKETS? 

Tickets are non-transferrable. The prize will be awarded to the individual whose name appears as purchasing the ticket. 

CAN SOMEONE WHO LIVES OUTSIDE ONTARIO BUY A TICKET? 

Yes, however ticket buyers must be in Ontario at the time of order. 

WHO IS NOT ELIGIBLE TO ORDER A TICKET? 

The following individuals and family residing in the same household are not eligible to purchase tickets:  

  • Management and Staff of the Ottawa Humane Society 
  • Ottawa Humane Society Board of Directors
  • Management and Staff of Audi West Ottawa 
  • Management and staff of 20Eight Digital 
  • Employees of the registered gaming supplier, BUMP a Division of Canadian Bank Note Company Ltd.
  • Employees of the Alcohol Gaming Commission of Ontario

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY TICKETS? 

Generally, within five minutes of purchase you will receive your ticket. During times of high demand, it could take up to 30 minutes. If you don’t receive your tickets within an hour, please email events@ottawahumane.ca.  

I HAVEN’T RECEIVED MY OFFICIAL TICKET / IT CONTAINS A SPELLING / ADDRESS ERROR 

Your official ticket will be sent to you via email at point of sale. If there appears to be any issues you may email us at events@ottawahumane.ca.  

I HAVE DELETED THE EMAIL WITH MY LOTTERY TICKET, AM I STILL ELIGIBLE FOR THE DRAWS? 

Yes. You do not need your ticket in hand to be included in the draws. For ticket-related inquiries, please email events@ottawahumane.ca

I DON’T HAVE AN EMAIL ADDRESS; HOW DO I GET A COPY OF MY TICKET? 

You must include an email address in order to purchase a ticket. 

I’M NOT ABLE TO OPEN MY ELECTRONIC TICKETS. WHAT DO I DO? 

If you are not able to open your email to retrieve your ticket, email us at events@ottawahumane.ca

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF A CREDIT CARD IS DECLINED? 

All tickets must be purchased online using a credit card. If there is an issue with your credit card, the point of purchase system will not allow your ticket to be purchased.  

IF I WIN EITHER EARLY BIRD DRAWS IS MY TICKET STILL ELIGIBLE FOR THE GRAND PRIZE? 

Yes, winners of all early-bird draws will have their tickets re-entered for the grand-prize draw and any early bird prizes yet to be drawn. You have six opportunities at winning a prize: four early-bird draws, the final grand-prize draw, and the 50|50 draw, if you opted to purchase bonus 50|50 tickets. 

WHEN ARE THE EARLY BIRD PRIZE DRAWS? 

The first early-bird draw for the two chances at two-thousand dollars is on February 6 at 10 a.m. The deadline to purchase tickets, in order to be included in the draw, February 5 at 11:59 p.m.

The second early-bird draw for the two chances at two-thousand dollars is on February 20 at 10 a.m. The deadline to purchase tickets, in order to be included in the draw, February 19 at 11:59 p.m.

The third early-bird draw for the two chances at two-thousand dollars is on March 6 at 10 a.m. The deadline to purchase tickets, in order to be included in the draw, March 5 at 11:59 p.m.

The fourth early-bird draw for the two chances at two-thousand dollars is on March 19 at 11:59 p.m. The deadline to purchase tickets, in order to be included in the draw, March 20 at 10 a.m.

The main draw for the 2025 Audi Q5 Technik 45 TFSI Quattro SUV will be March 31 at 1 p.m. The deadline to purchase tickets, in order to be included in the draw is March 31 at 11:00 a.m.

DO I HAVE T0 BUY MAIN DRAW TICKETS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 50|50?

Yes. You will not be able to buy 50|50 tickets without first adding main draw tickets to your cart.

CAN I BUY MAIN DRAW TICKETS AND THEN GO BACK LATER TO PURCHASE 50|50 TICKETS?

No. You must purchase the the 50|50 tickets in the same transaction as the main draw tickets. If you decide afterwards that you want to play the 50|50, you will have to purchase at least 1 more Main Draw ticket to unlock access to the bonus 50|50 ticket options. 

WHERE DOES THE OTHER HALF OF THE 50|50 JACKPOT GO?

The other half of the 50|50 pot will be donated to the Ottawa Humane Society, a non-profit, community-based organization and a registered charity. Since 1888, the Ottawa Humane Society has been the leading organization in providing a safe haven for sick, injured and homeless animals in Ottawa.

IS MY TICKET PURCHASE TAX DEDUCTIBLE? 

Lottery or raffle tickets are not eligible for a charitable tax receipt as per Canada Revenue Agency rules and regulations. 

IF I WIN, IS MY PRIZE SUBJECT TO TAXATION? 

No. Prizes won are not taxable. Lottery winnings are considered a windfall and not taxable in Canada. 

DO I HAVE TO TAKE THE GRAND-PRIZE 2025 AUDI Q5 TECHNIK 45 TFSI QUATTRO SUV OR CAN I TAKE CASH? 

There is no cash in lieu of the grand prize. 

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO CLAIM MY PRIZE? 

All winners must claim their prizes within six (6) weeks if possible. An unclaimed prize will be held in trust by the licensee for a period not less than six (6) months from the date the prize was awarded. At the end of the six-month period, the total amount of the prize held in trust, including interest, or the value of a merchandise prize equal to the manufacturer’s suggested retail price, will be included by the licensee in the gross proceeds of the lottery event. 

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CANNOT PICK UP MY PRIZE IN PERSON? 

Arrangements may be made to have the grand prize shipped to you “freight collect”, or if someone other than the winner will be claiming the prize on the winner’s behalf, the winner must provide written and signed authorization along with the original prize-winning letter. 

HOW ARE WINNERS NOTIFIED? 

The winning ticket number and the name and place of residence of the winner(s) will be recorded and announced immediately after each draw through the event website. Lottery winners will be notified by an Ottawa Humane Society representative. Such notification will include information about the prize claim procedure. 

WHO IS BUMP CBN? 

A division of Canadian Bank Note, BUMP is a registered gaming supplier with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). Ticket fulfillment and draw control are provided by BUMP for the For The Animals Lottery. For more information, visit https://bumpcbn.com/

DOES THE CANADIAN ANTI-SPAM LEGISLATION AFFECT YOUR LOTTERIES? 

Charity lotteries are exempt from this legislation.
